Your iPhone is smart, but it’s not a photographer. In this class, we’ll take back control by learning a few small techniques that make a big difference: how to frame a shot, where to stand, when to tap, and how to use light on purpose. You’ll walk away taking photos that actually feel like what you saw.
And with the 10th and final Abilene Gives soon approaching, this class will help participants think creatively about photography for their giving day campaigns.
This session is on Wednesday, March 25, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Grain Theory (202 Pine St, Ste 201).
The session will include a 30-minute lunch break and a photo exercise walking to nearby downtown locations. This workshop requires a paid ticket. Registration includes presentation material and a participant's meal.
After growing up in Abilene and graduating from Abilene Christian University, Matt married Katie in 2007, and they decided to take a risk and move to Hollywood, where they worked in the entertainment industry. Over the next four years, Matt worked as an assistant on ABC’s “Wipeout!” and for the award-winning production company, Kennedy/Marshall, while crafting his cinematographic skills on the side with National Geographic, music videos, and several short films. In 2013, Matt and Katie founded Maxwell Filmworks, specializing in storytelling through film and photography. Since 2020, Matt has served as the Filmmaker in Residence for the Learning Studio at Abilene Christian University.
