ABOUT REGIONAL COMMUNITY FUNDS

The Foundation has the ability to manage endowment funds established by another community. It is a great way to remove the administrative burden from a family or regional foundation so they can focus on the impact they wish to make.

The Foundation manages the following regional community funds:

  • Coleman County Foundation
  • Friends of the Coleman County Foundation
  • Nolan County Foundation
  • Winters Area Foundation

COLEMAN COUNTY FOUNDATION (CCF)

The Coleman County Foundation (CCF) was established in 1999 as a vehicle for philanthropy in Coleman County.

CCF's fund is managed by the Community Foundation of Abilene, and the earnings from these assets are used to make grants to nonprofits serving various needs to improve the quality of life for residents in Coleman County.

The Coleman County Foundation is governed by a nine-member board composed of civic and business leaders from Coleman County.

Its members include:

  • President: Marsha Spinks

WINTERS AREA FOUNDATION

Winters Area Foundation was established in 2007 for the purpose of benefiting charitable organizations in the Winters, Texas area. The Winters Area Foundation (or "WAF") was guided by the Community Foundation of Abilene's leadership from the beginning.

Nearly two decades later, WAF has experienced significant growth and a clear direction for its regional funds. WAF's goals were to grow and invest charitable endowments to benefit their local area. They continue to do this by awarding grants at the WAF annual dinner.

The annual event brings together people interested in the Winters community and those willing to be involved in supporting our local nonprofits.

At the dinner, the attendees help determine which nonprofits should benefit from funds raised through their contributions.

WAF continues to serve as a vehicle for donors’ varied interests by pointing them to the Community Foundation of Abilene as a remarkable place for establishing endowments that can make their financial gifts last beyond their lifetime.

Philanthropic leadership is essential to the survival of small towns, and the Winters Area Foundation supports and encourages the next generation of donors to become active and involved in our endeavors.
