Ashley and Sara Abel Memorial Scholarship

The Ashley and Sara Abel Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor these two sisters, who loved as only sisters can and were best friends, too. 

Ashley Abel (1978-2015) and Sara Abel (1983-2003) were talented, artistic, and creative personalities. As young children, they spent many hours "playing" school together. It instilled a gift of learning that served them in their careers with Abilene ISD. 

Ashley loved dance, ballet, and was a member of Abilene High's Gold Rush dance team. In her junior and senior years, Sara was Editor-in-Chief for "The Battery," Abilene High's newspaper. 

Ashley and Sara would be happy to know they are helping someone follow their dreams and earn their college degree.
 

Eligibility

• A high school graduate or college undergraduate student from the Region 14 ESC area.
• Applicant plans to pursue a career in English, literature, writing, journalism, public relations, or communications.
